Barcode Scanners

iMagic Inventory integrates with any standard USB barcode scanner — plug it in and it works immediately.

How barcode scanning works with iMagic Inventory

iMagic Inventory treats a barcode scanner exactly like a keyboard — the scanner reads a barcode and "types" the code into the active field. This means any standard USB HID (Human Interface Device) barcode scanner will work without any additional software, drivers, or configuration.

Simply plug the scanner into a USB port and start scanning. iMagic Inventory will recognise the scanned code and match it to the correct inventory item automatically.

What you can do with barcode scanning

  • Scan items into invoices — no typing required
  • Scan items during stocktakes to count inventory
  • Reduce data entry errors from mis-typed codes
  • Speed up goods receipt and dispatch
  • Print barcodes to standard label printers
  • Works with any standard USB barcode scanner
  • No additional software or drivers needed
  • Compatible with 1D and 2D barcode formats

Printing barcode labels

iMagic Inventory can print barcodes directly to standard printers — you don't need a specialist label printer, though dedicated label printers will produce better results. You can print barcode labels for any of your inventory items in standard 1D barcode formats.
